The rules for using the StudyBro app and website, including what our AI features can and cannot be relied on for.

This is a working draft. Replace every [BRACKETED] item with your real details and have a qualified lawyer review it before you publish. It is not legal advice.

1. Who we are

StudyBro is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [LEGAL FORM], registered at [FULL ADDRESS, SWITZERLAND] ([COMPANY REGISTRATION NUMBER]). In these terms, "we", "us" and "StudyBro" mean that company, and "you" means the person using the app or this website.

2. Accepting these terms

By downloading, opening or using StudyBro, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app. Your use of the App Store is also governed by Apple's own terms, which we do not control.

3. Who can use StudyBro

StudyBro is rated 12+ and is designed for students. You must be at least [MINIMUM AGE] to use it. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use StudyBro with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf.

4. Your account

[Describe whether an account is required.] You are responsible for keeping your login details private and for activity carried out through your account. Tell us promptly at hello@studybro.app if you think someone else has accessed it.

5. What StudyBro costs

StudyBro is free to download and free to start using. [If you offer paid features or subscriptions, set out here: what is included, the price, the billing period, how renewal works, how to cancel, and the fact that purchases are processed by Apple and subject to Apple's refund policy. EU and Swiss consumers have a statutory right of withdrawal for digital purchases — state how it applies.]

6. Your content

The notes, study sets and other material you add stay yours. You give us a limited licence to store, process and display that content for the sole purpose of operating StudyBro for you — including sending it to our AI providers to generate flashcards and answers. We do not claim ownership of it and we will not use it for anything else.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload. Do not add material that infringes someone else's copyright or that you are not allowed to share.

7. Our AI features, and their limits

StudyBro uses AI to generate flashcards, explanations and study plans. AI output can be incomplete, outdated or simply wrong. It is a study aid, not a source of truth.

You should always check important facts against your course material, your textbook or your teacher. StudyBro does not guarantee any particular exam result, grade or outcome, and is not a substitute for teaching, tutoring, or professional advice of any kind.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use StudyBro to:

break the law, or help anyone else to;

cheat in an exam or assessment where using it is prohibited by your school or institution — that is your responsibility to check;

upload malware, or try to breach, overload or reverse-engineer the service;

scrape, resell or redistribute the service or its content;

harass anyone or upload abusive, hateful or illegal material.

9. Availability and changes

We aim to keep StudyBro running but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may update, change or discontinue features. If we discontinue something significant, or shut the service down, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your content.

10. Ending your use

You can stop using StudyBro and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaches these terms, normally after warning you, and immediately where the breach is severe.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for intentional wrongdoing or gross negligence, or for anything else that cannot be limited under Swiss or applicable mandatory consumer law.

Subject to that, StudyBro is provided as it is, and we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss, including exam results, lost grades, lost opportunities or lost data, to the extent the law allows. [Have your lawyer set an appropriate cap on aggregate liability here.]

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Swiss law. Disputes fall to the ordinary courts of [CITY/CANTON], Switzerland. If you are a consumer resident in the EU or EEA, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of your country of residence and may bring proceedings there.

13. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms materially we will tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use StudyBro after that means you accept the new version. The date at the top of this page always shows the current version.

14.
